شاید یکی از مهمترین دلایلی که عده معدودی از کاربران را به استفاده از ویندوز نا اماده مایکروسافت یعنی همون ویندوز ویستا می کشونه همین قابلیت DirectX 10 در این ویندوز باشه که باعث میشه شما بتونید بازی ها ی ساخته شده با آن رو در این ویندوز اجرا کنید.و بازی هایی با جزئیات گرافیکی بیشتر رو بازی کنید! اما شاید جز این بهانه دیگری برای استفاده هم اکنون از ویندوز ویستا نباشه چرا که حتی بازی های ساخته شده با DirectX 10 به تعداد انگشتان یک دست هم نمیرسن.... اما اگه شما هنوز هم طرفدار ویندوز xp هستید و نیازی به کوچ به ویستا! احساس نمی کنید و در عین حال خیلی دلتون میخواد این بازی ها رو که دارن کم کم وارد بازار میشن رو روی ویندوز xp هم اجرا کنید و فعلن نه کارت گرافیک خودتون رو ارتقا بدید نه ویندوز رو! (البته تاکید میکنیم که این روش موقتی است!) چاره کار شما اینه که برید به ادامه مطلب DirectX 10 برای xp رو دانلود کنید.
بنا به گفته‌های مايكروسافت يكی از فوايد DirectX-10 اين است كه گرافيكش حدودا 8 برابر روانتر و سريعتر نسبت به DirectX9 اجرا می‌شود. البته يادمان نرود كه حدودا چهار سال از اولين امكان پيدايش DirectX9 می‌گذرد.اين مسئله با توجه به كنترل و ارتباط مستقيم كارت گرافيكی و توسط برداشتن محدوديت‌هايی كه در DirectX9 به علت ساختار آن قابل رفع نبود امكان پذير شده است. علاوه بر مطلب گفته شده DirectX-10 امكان Geometric-shader و Shader Modell 4.0 را فراهم ساخته و در دورن خود مديريتی برای Textureها فراهم ساخته است. از حافظه كارت گرافيكی بهتر استفاده شده و روندهای بسياری می‌توانند در آن واحد به سی‌پی‌يو دسترسی پيدا كنند.سی پی يو در DirectX-10 فشاری را تحمل نمی‌كند و نمی‌تواند مشغول كارهای ديگر شود و سی‌پی‌يو بيشتر به كار اصلی كه برای او طراحی شده است می‌رسد: محاسبه گرافيك. DirectX 10 که بسیار سریع تر از نسخه های پیشین خود نصب و اجرا می شود، امکان اجرای بازی های رایانه ای را با سرعت و کیفیت بالا برای کاربران مهیا می کند

Microsoft DirectX 10 Final - DirectX 10.1

DirectX 10.1 will be the last and final update to the DirectX 10 application programming interface (API). The DirectX 10 will be exist in two versions only, 10.0 and 10.1 only, said Richard Huddy, worldwide developer relations manager of AMD’s graphics product group at a conference recently. The end of DirectX 10 means that Microsoft will start focusing on DirectX 11 after the DirectX 10.1 update is released. Meanwhile, the developers of graphics processing units (GPUs) will not need to add anymore new functionality to their products and will therefore have to focus on performance, rather than on innovation of functionality.

However, Microsoft encourages graphics companies like ATI and NVIDIA to keep on focusing improve the DirectX 10 performance rather than adding more features for the next few years, at least until the launch of DirectX 11. This could potentially pave the way for NVIDIA and ATI to work on multi-GPU graphics cards without the need to keep adding functionality.

Meanwhile. the end of DirectX 10 development has increased uncertainty whether ATI, graphics product group of AMD, and Nvidia Corp will change their DirectX 10/10.1 architectures going forward, or will rely on making large chips using thinner process technologies with higher amount of execution units as well as improving multi-GPU technologies.

Beside that, The DirectX 10.1 will be featured in Microsoft Windows Vista service pack 1, which is due to release on in Year 2008. Plus more, Microsoft also release several DirectX9 shader models, including versions 2.0, 2.0a, 2.0b and 3.0 for DirectX 9 version.
